On the McKalla Concessions Announcement

Austin FC has announced their local-forward food concession plans, based on a new “hospitality team” brand collaboration with the Levy company: 512 Food Co.

When doors open in June 2021, Q2 Stadium visitors will have a breadth of local favorites available throughout Q2 Stadium. 512 Food Co. is committed to partnering with the Austin restaurant community, and it will continue to identify future opportunities to work with small businesses of all cultures and tastes.

Their initial roster of more than a dozen local eateries includes Tacodeli, Easy Tiger, Mmmpanadas, Slovacek’s, One Taco (of Verde Shrine fame), and Bao’d Up, as well as more traditional – but local (or at least regional)! – spots like DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks and Pluckers Wing Bar.

Will there be concession stands to buy typical stadium fare like nacho chips from a big plastic bag covered in gloopy bright yellow “cheese”? Probably, if only to help make the visiting fans from Houston and Dallas feel more at home.

The inclusion of quality local food choices and a commitment to diversity of cultures and tastes didn’t just make us happy. It made us hungry. We can’t wait to evaluate the execution.

Violet Crown Verdict: One Thumb Up
